I remember seeing a relatively small painting that was dark to the point of looking entirely black at a distance. Upon close inspection, it is in fact of a flower.
I saw it about ten years ago. I can't remember if it was at The Baltimore Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, or The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I put the museums in order of likelihood of seeing it there.
I wish I could be more specific but that's the best my memory will provide.
What is the name of the dark painting of a flower?
Could it be "Red and Black," a watercolor done in 1916 by Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986)? If so, it is at The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
