I have tried pads, etc., but I found one thing that works to stop rugs from sliding it's just that I need help to find it again. It's a white substance that's painted to the backside of the rug. The directions say to paint it on, leave it to dry and coat a second time within 12 hours. Problem is I tossed the jar not realizing how great it works. It's a rubberized substance that has held my runner in place (hasn't moved an inch in 2 weeks) on carpeted steps.
I have checked with Home Depot and a large crafts store but no luck. Also looked on-line but haven't found anything close.
Thanks for your help.
Anyone know the name of a substance to paint on the back of rugs to keep them from slipping?
I've never seen or heard of this. But, if you cannot find it, you can use double sided carpet tape to stop it from moving. You simply tape it around the edges and it will hold even when vacuuming or moving furniture. My area rugs have been in place for 8 years with the exception of having them cleaned, they don't move.
Reply:Sorry i can not remember the name, but ther is a kind of material that you should be able to find in a carpet shop.
we used it on wood floor and tiles and it work perfectly.
It looks like fiber glass, but it is soft to the touch.
hope it will help.
Reply:Duck Tape it so totally helps!!
Reply:Dear "rug slipper", use super glue. Really, it works. Claudia
Reply:Go to the store and look for something like rug stick. It is tacky on both sides so the rug stays where you want it. It is material.
