Ok guys, this is going to sound strange but a long time ago i was in a reptile shop with my ex, and i remember i saw this odd looking reptile in this huge tank and it was about 12 inches or so long and it basically looked like a shelless turtle. It really bothers me that i can't find any information on what the heck it is, help!

You might have been looking at a soft shell turtle. The shell appears to be made of flat, soft leathery flesh on these guys. They also have odd little pig -like snouts and get a fair size. Florida soft shells are quite common but there are other species as well. Here's a link with a photo
